Stop Labour's Winter Fuel Payment Cuts

Local Liberal Democrats have condemned the Labour Party’s decision to cut winter fuel payments for pensioners in County Durham.
Research by the Liberal Democrats has revealed that 86% of pensioners in County Durham currently entitled to the winter fuel payment would lose out under the Labour Party plan.

Many pensioners on the margins will be left to choose between heating and eating this winter. In Parliament, Liberal Democrat MPs are leading the campaign for Labour to U-Turn on the winter payment cuts.

“Please sign our petition to oppose Labour’s attack on pensioners,” said Lib Dem councillor Mark Wilkes. “The Liberal Democrats have a costed plan to fund public services by taxing big business, not cuts to help pensioners,” he added.

We urge the Labour Government to reverse their damaging decision - which will leave many older people vulnerable this winter.
