Lib Dem candidate for Durham, Carol Woods, has hailed the party's manifesto as a fairer alternative to the failure of Labour and the Conservatives.
Carol said:
"Today's manifesto launch confirms the Lib Dems as the only party offering real change in Britain.
"Only the Liberal Democrats would make education fairer for all by abolishing tuition fees and by introducing a pupil premium. We need this to close the opportunity gap between rich and poor children.
"Our plans would mean an extra £30m for local schools in Durham, giving every child a fair start regardless of their background.
"In addition, we pledge to put more police on the street and cut income tax bills by £700 a year.
"Durham has been neglected by Labour for decades. It is clearly time for a change. With the Conservatives out of the race here in Durham the choice for local people is between more of the same Labour let down or a fresh start under the Lib Dems.
