Tomorrow (Wednesday) Vince Cable, the Lib Dem Shadow Chancellor, will present an early day motion in the House of Commons to fight for compensation for the policy holders of Equitable Life.
Carol Woods, Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Durham said "I am astounded that the government has not acted upon the report of the Parliamentary Ombudsman and compensated policy holders of equitable life. The motion that Vince Cable will present has cross party support with more than 200 MPs from Labour and the Conservatives backing it."
"It is a complete scandal that policy holders have not received any compensation and the ombudsman has taken the unprecedented step of presenting another report to the Labour government as he felt the response to the last one was inadequate. I have received several letters from policy holders who lost everything when equitable life collapsed. It is time the government paid compensation before any more policy holders die waiting."
